Our Christmas break was short and full of a lot of responsibility for Andy. His parents came to celebrate Christmas with us and we were unable to make the drive to Iowa to see the rest of our family. We knew we needed a get-away of some sort and were excited to see an awesome deal at Three Bears Lodge in Tomah, Wisconsin.

Though our pictures show lots of smiles, we actually had quite a few frustrating moments. The waterpark was open from 1-9. The check-in time was 3pm. We arrived at the hotel at 3:10. The front desk informed us our room would not be ready for about 20 minutes. We were disappointed but changed into our swimming attire at a bathroom. We had brought in all of our luggage and had parked far away- so we had no desire to return our belongings to the car- and no desire to leave them for someone to take. I was sure our room would be available any minute... Soon it was 40 minutes after we checked in and we still were without a room. I encouraged Daddy and Daughter to go enjoy the waterpark while Boy and I hung out and waited. In the end it was close to 5 by the time we finally got into our room. By this time A. was worn out and ready for a break. Thankfully I asked the front desk for some way to show they feel bad about our inconvenience. THey gave us a $20 giftcard for breakfast (which we used towards dinner instead.). After eating dinner there (the poor waitress was way too busy) we went back to enjoy the waterpark. We enjoyed the wave pool on the tubes, the lazy river, and just splashing in the pools. A. loved the huge bucket that would occasionally crash down gallons of water. She actually ran each time she heard the bell (while others were running from the area!). D's favorite part was the zero depth entry where he could hang out and crawl around and splash. We came back to our room around 8:45. I called the front desk to remind them about the crib I had requested... only to find out that they forgot and that all cribs were already used. We slept well and the check-out was uneventful. We loved the hotel and waterpark- just not all the craziness that happens with a hotel that wasn't ready for the number of guests that came over the holiday break. I hope the hotel can make it. Location is not ideal but the price is right!!
Over Christmas break we had plenty of snow. A. had the opportunity to play out for awhile but this day it was in the single digits. To allow them the opportunity to enjoy the snow- I brought it inside. I filled cookie sheets with snow and brought it in. D. was pretty interested in the cold white stuff. I did put some socks on his hands (and yes- the poor guy doesnt have any socks on in the picture... but he wasn't touching the snow with his feet!) They had a lot of fun, built a snowman and other piles.
