The sun is rising

I found this image as I was looking for a sunrise picture. I was thankful for the progression because just looking at google images under "sunrise," sometimes I had a hard time knowing how it looked any different than a sunset.

Last time I blogged was definitely before the sunrise. Today I discovered that my school district is allowing teachers to change the grading policies back to how we used to do it. This is a relief. Though I remained a professional and did not complain to students, parents, or administration about the new rules- I did find some things I disagreed with and felt that my students were not learning as well. I also felt like I had less of a sense of how their learning was progressing instead of a better sense. I look forward to second semester and hope that the students can trust my system and have it work for them as it worked for past students.

It is still a struggle to balance work/family/household chores. The house should not look this way- but we dont have company and this is just the way its going to be right now. I'll keep up with the laundry and keep food in the kids' tummies. I'll spend time before they go to bed cuddling, coloring, or reading. My recent personal challenge is to significantly reduce tv time. We've gone 3 evenings without tv which makes me feel great! We have had other significant decisions that have now been made. I am thankful we can move forward in our life.

Well- off to put away laundry- a job that never seems to end!
