The set-up was great! We walked into a living room with a dining area and kitchen. In the back was the bedroom with a balcony overlooking the pool area. We were excited about the week of activities they had to offer. Though we don't own a boat or golf, we were confident we would have plenty of things to do as a family. We could tell it was a family-focused resort: one that families returned to year after year. It took me awhile to just relax when we got there. I wanted to start planning what we would do every hour of every day, and then I remembered that the point of family vacations is simply to spend time together- we dont have to be busy or have the most extreme entertainment- what is most important is relaxing and playing together as a family- and that we did! Both of us didn't realize how much our jobs affect our time together. Whether its an evening meeting or just the busyness of life's distractions, it does take away our time as a family. Our room did not have wi-fi. Though initially I was disappointed about that, in the end it was better to not have the temptation of emailing, blogging, or facebooking to take time away from my family.

Family Vacation Pt 1
I remember the spring of 2004 when Andy was a senior in college. Though we weren't married and our money was still his/hers, he called to discuss his desire to buy a timeshare. At the time it was a big expense, but we felt we would get our money's worth the following years. Andy used it once in college with his friends to vacation in Gulf Shores, LA. We also used it two years ago to purchase our living room couch and chair at a significant discount- but we had never found the time or place to use it as a family. This year it was time to see what vacationing time-share style was all about. Because of the ages of our children, we didn't want a drive more than ten hours. Because it is cheaper to do the last minute deals, we needed a place we could drive. Andy discovered the Breezy Point Resort in Minnesota. Thank goodness we were able to stay there through the timeshare for a whole week for a little more than the cost of staying two nights there.
