Fire Fire...

We received a phone call a few days earlier, that A. had won the raffle for a fire truck. The week before we had attended a brat fry for the local fire department (Please realize that here it is called a fry- not a bbq or grillout... a fry!) Considering we had some people from our church that are very involved, we went to support the department. While there, we signed A. up for a free raffle. This raffle was in memory of a young fourteen year old boy who died this past summer in a tractor accident. His dad is a fireman and the boy always liked helping with the volunteer FD. Andy was at the scene of the accident almost immediately, was able to offer comfort to his family, gave the message at the funeral, and continues to help the family and his friends as they work through this difficult time. We continue to keep this family in our prayers and consider them wonderful friends.

Anyway, the phone call was to see if we would be available for them to deliver the firetruck... by firemen AND a fire truck! So Saturday afternoon a fire truck showed up at our house- lights going and three men in their uniforms. A. wasn't sure what to think but could tell that Mom and Dad were very excited about it. In addition to the firemen, the boy's family also came. We were able to see the fire truck up close and A. and Mommy even drove around town in the fire truck.

This is quite the fire truck. This toy has flashing lights and sounds AND can squirt water. Can you believe this toy can squirt water from the hose! The ladder can reach as high as 35 inches. A. loves playing with it and hopefully she will be kind enough to share it with her bother when he gets bigger. Andy and I are thrilled that she can enjoy this toy and we can think of the young boy and his family.
