When Andy went to a conference in CA Jan 2006, it was at the Crystal Cathedral. He took lots of pictures and even some videos- but a place like that just doesnt really work with pictures. You dont get the sense of the beauty or magnificence until you are there. While Andy was at his conference, I drove myself in the crazy CA 6 lane traffic to the Crystal Cathedral. I knew they gave tours and I was excited to see the campus. When I arrived (yep, made it even with a LONG wait because of someones accident) and asked about a tour, I discovered that no one else was there and I would recieve my own private tour. The guy was originally from Lebanon and though his accent was slightly challenging, overall I learned a lot. One funny thing was I asked him to take my picture in front of the "Little Children come to Me" statue and you will see the picture is JUST of me- you cant see the statue. Why would I want a pic of me???
The day was beautiful. I was surprised taht I felt the church is getting a little wear and tear- carpets and seat cushions need some renovations, but it is still a pretty cool building and the guy was an Iowa boy!!!
