just a busy, productive Saturday

It was wonderful spending the morning and afternoon with my little girl. While Daddy was off cheering on our hs boys at a wrestling match, A. and I had a great day together.

We drove to Milwaukee with our main purpose of buying a stroller for Baby Brother. Babies R Us was having a "Trade-In" Sale. Today was the last day! For each old item that you brought to the store, they gave you a 25% off coupon to use on a new baby gear item! We gladly traded in A.'s stroller (the one where the wheel had fallen off and it was just sitting in our garage for over a year, completely worthless...) and bought another travel system. Besides the wheel that had fallen off, we were very happy with Graco Metro Lite and purchased the Utopia one today. She had so much fun at BabiesRUs- looking at all the things for Brother!

It was then time to eat. It seems my child is now old enough to request a certain place with golden arches- WHY oh WHY? But, I wanted to make this a mommy-daughter day and figured we would. As I was about to turn into the McDs, I noticed a sign for Chuckie Cheese's. A. insisted she wanted to go to McD but I told her about the various games and all the balls. She decided she would like to go to ChuckieCheese's afterall! (She was very disappointed that there are no longer any balls there- for health reasons perhaps?? I told her when I was 5 I remember balls but that apparently they don't have them anymore.)

We only purchased 10 tokens (a quarter each!) but it was just the right amount. We did four "rides" before our pizza came, and 6 after! She enjoyed many of them, including the horse (see video below). One thing I thought was cool about the place, was that as we entered, our hands were stamped with an invisible number. As we left, they checked our hands to make sure that we were leaving with the correct people! It was nice to know that technically it would be more challenging to have a stranger take my daughter!

After lunch, we headed to the mall. We had a great time looking at clothes for her brother and also found an adorable Easter dress for A. at Children's Place. A. successfully found the perfect blanket for her bother AND a cookie monster for him to cuddle with. I was proud that when we tested out the "What is your brother's name?" with a few of the clerks that she expertly responded with her "Dont Tell!" :)
We then came home, put the stroller together, and soon it was time for bed. I am grateful to have the stroller checked off our list- and that we could get it at such a great deal! I look forward to April and May so we can enjoy some sunny days and long walks!

Sounds like a really fun day! I love that A. remembers not to tell her brother's name.

I used to love "Mom and Me" days as a girl...I still love them now! Moms are the best!

I was really interested to hear that the balls of Chuck E. Cheese are gone. (I probably could have phrased that last sentence differently!) It's gotta be germ reasons, or maybe one too many kids got clobbered in there. I used to like playing in the ball room as a kid, but I always did worry that someone was going to step on my face or that I would be smothered by balls and never heard from again!! I would imagine there would have to be some nasty germs in there as well.

It looks like you guys had a blast! I can't wait to have those kinds of days with my little daughter! :)

I am jealous of your new stroller/car seat! Ours is starting to look so worn out after 5yrs and 3 kids (Gabriel is using it right now) I remember the excitment of the new car seat riding around the car waiting for baby...but old and faded, it'll still do the job :)
