After looking at the calendar and realizing the summer was coming to an end, we found it important to schedule one more mini weekend getaway. Fall is a crazy time for both of us and summer is when our schedule is slightly more flexible. Being that we have only lived in Wisconsin for two summers, we felt it would be fun to see what our new state has to offer. We have explored the Dells multiple times and were ready for a new adventure. Andy had heard of Lake Geneva. Its a tourist town that was quite famous in the 1890s to 1920s when many of the wealthy business owners of Chicago built vacation homes along Lake Geneva. You woul dhave been amazed to see some of the HUGE homes. I took lots of pics but only posted two. I mention that in a moment.
Grand Geneva is a resort at Lake Geneva. Originally it was owned by Hugh Hefner for a Playboy Club. The song, "Paradise City" by Guns N Roses was written about the area. The resort was later sold and it is truly a place for families. We chose to stay at Timber Ridge Lodge. Three things made us excited about it. 1) the indoor waterpark 2) the suite 3) the price
It was so nice having a separate bedroom and a kitchenette. We saved a lot of money by eating meals in the room (gotta love Mac N Cheese- simple and filling!)

The bedroom
The living area. The balcony is off to the right. (A. is posing on the couch!)

The dining area and kitchenette. How nice that potentially ten people could sit comfortably and eat!

The bathroom with 2 person jacuzzi tub. A. had a great bath with the bubbles!

The renovated pool area at Grand Geneva. I wonder what it looked like before??

The Lady of the Lake. We thought a great way to see the lake would be from the view of a boat. We were given a nice tour of all the mansions on the lake. Of course my batteries died right before the biggest mansion (Thank you A. for taking so many pics of Daddy's shirt, leg, foot...). I did get a pic of it from land though.
I could be wrong- but I think this is one of MANY homes on the Wriggley property. Of course I had to take pics of the Cubs home! What amazed Andy and I was the massiveness of the homes and also the fact that many of the homes are not lived in except a few weekends a summer! WHAT? I would gladly house-sit!
She was SO excited about going on the boat ride. But once the ride started she was pretty fussy unless she was allowed to take pictures or eat fish crackers! We are glad we selected the hour trip and not the 2.5 hour one! Did you know that there is a mail-delivery boat service along the lake? We could have gone onthat tour but smartly chose the shorter one!
All along the lake is this small path. Apparently it would take eight hours to walk all around. We started walking around but with a child sleeping in the stroller and us only being able to walk single file, it wasnt too fun! It was strange walking through people's backyards- not much privacy for them! Sometimes it was rock, sometimes cement, and often there was no fence. I hope there is some rule that you cant walk along it after 8pm or something. How odd to have people trampsing through your backyard!
Here is one picture of the biggest mansion on the lake. 16,000 square foot mansion! It is called Stone Manor. Its kind of an interesting story about it. Check it out - click on Stone Manor and read partially down the page!
Our first night that I did not bring our camera. She was brave and went on every slide she could. We chose to have her wear a life jacket provided by the resort when she would land in water deeper than 2 feet. Even though we would always be at the bottom to catch her it gave us peace of mind! Others were so amazed at how such a young girl would have no fear! She kept saying "Ahh by meself!" She didnt even want us to catch her but we insisted. I got some great videos but will post those when I can.
Her favorite outdoor slide. She just wanted to go again and again!
We enjoyed the lazy river and she was also brave enough to go down the tube slide with me multiple times- probably about nine times total over the three days! The first few times she was silent (Andy assured me she was smiling at the end!) and the last day she just happy screamed the whole time! It was fun! We made her climb all the stairs the first time and after that we decided to kindly carry her up while the other parent carried the tube.
The free trolley that took us around the resort!
Daddy and Daughter posing with Daddy/Kid scupture! (Andy noticed this picture pefect moment!)
