Had Ourselves a Merry Little Christmas...

Our precious angel- her third Christmas Day!

Baker Family - 2008

Hello! Merry Christmas! We hope you enjoyed Christmas and had a chance to spend some time with your family and friends. It was a busy weekend for us. We somehow "escaped" some of the pastoral duties last year as we spent our Christmas in Iowa with the families Dec 22-26. This year we decided we wouldn't be traveling over break and with weather and forecasts like this we are glad!

Christmas Eve wasn't necessarily relaxing: my friend Melissa and I created and directed the children's program, and though the wisemen came at the wrong part and various other mishaps, I think it went okay. (His parents arrived with a minor delay- Baker family tradition when dealing with airlines!) After the Christmas Eve service, Grandma Dottie used a soft-toy play nativity to tell A. the story of Jesus' birth. A. enjoyed rocking Baby Jesus too and fro. I look forward to using the nativity in the future.

Here are some of the cookies we had fun decorating.
Christmas Day also felt busy. It began with a 9am service. Andy preached on, "The Making of a Christmas Story" and I sang a solo/duet. The choir also had three other numbers. We arrived home, ate dinner, and then opened gifts. She really enjoyed it and didn't want it to end. Mommy loved all the new books and clothes she received. A. especially seemed to like her own digital camera (see pictures taken by her camera and of her with it!)
Dec 26 we drove to Beaver Dam to meet up with Andy's cousin Pete and his friend and her son. We enjoyed the great food and conversation!

We enjoyed time with his family- though Andy's schedule is a bit overwhelming as he had a funeral today and will be preaching two different sermons tomorrow (morning and evening) depending on weather.

***On a sad note, my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Simpson fought a long battle against cancer but passed away Dec 26. She has three children in high school and college. I am glad they had Christmas Day together but still do not understand why these things must happen to people.
