Pinterest- Chore Chart

It happened- after almost a year of refusing to discover what my friends were talking about when they said Pinterest Addiction or about how it would take hours of your life away... it has happened!  It all started innocently enough, my son's birthday is fast approaching.  I enjoy the excitement/challenge of making a cake.  I checked it out.  Then I found more and more things!

But- unlike what I feared, I actually made something from a pinterest post!  This was my first Pinterest Project and Im proud to share of its success (Success being on day 2...  ask me again day 200!)

 Chore Chart
I bought 2  10x13 cheap frames at the store.  I was hoping to buy ones with fake glass but sadly this is glass.  Then I let my kids look through my 12x12 scrapbook pages to pick as the background.  It took some creativity to make the 12x12 fit into the 10x13.

I also purchased small clear hooks.  I wish I had measured it and spaced it a little better.  I chose to put 6 on mine.
To make the cards (which I have about 20 of and intend to switch them out daily).  I used cardstock.  I have a rounded edge punch that I thought made it look more finished.  On the computer I just found a business card template and typed in various chores I thought would be appropriate for their ages (plus some I KNOW they enjoy).  I wish I had clip art for my son but I tell him what he has in the morning and he asks Big Sis which ones to turn.  I glued the white paper on the cardstock and then used packing tape to wrap around the bottom of it- covering the white paper.  A dear friend had the awesome BIG hole punch because I discovered the small single hole punch won't work with the hooks.
This morning (day 2) A. rushed down stairs, excitedly looked at her chores, and made her bed before I even got out of bed!  Above she is completing her last chore.  When the chore is complete she will get to turn the card over!

I intended to have some sort of incentive and I may still eventually- but for now they are doing them because they are fun and new.  They love having the feeling of accomplishment at flipping the cards over.  I intend to have them complete 4 M-F (simple things make bed, put away dirty clothes... things they should do daily anyway) and then 6 on Sat and Sun.  These might include more rare cards like wipe light switches and doorknobs or mop kitchen floor.  I'll keep switching them so its always something new.  Again- this is just day 2, but Ive been very pleased!  Its nice that I am not nagging them and yet we are working together as a family.  Maybe I need to make myself a chore chart!  :)
