Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas- from Rochester, Minnesota!
(Sorry the above picture is sideways- I am using my sister's computer and her pictures and I am not sure how to turn it but it was too adorable not to post!)
Christmas Eve with the cousins- we attended a service at 3:15. It was strange having a service so early but we consider ourselve fortunate considering the 2 sets of grandparents in Iowa had service canceled due to the storms in the midwest!

The Baker Family Four

My sister and her daughters. Unfortunately, Mike was called out to plow from noon-midnight on Dec 23, 24, 25.

The girls enjoyed "working" with shovels JUST THEIR SIZE! Who knew it could be so much fun to shovel?

Our Christmas vacation began at 2:26 on Dec 23 once the students were dimissed from school. Due to scheduling, Mean old Mrs Baker gave tests in almost every class Tuesday or Wednesday. I assured the students they would rather take the test before the break instead of once they return.
I have yet to understand why it is that almost every year the weather is questionable from Dec 22-Dec 29. Two years ago we rolled our SUV on the drive to Christmas but thankfully all three of us were left unharmed! Last year Andy's parents flew to us and the roads to pick them up and return them to the airport were not ideal. This year the plan was to drive as far as Rochester on Wednesday after school. Thursday morning my sister's family was going to drive to Iowa to spend Christmas Eve and Day with the grandparents and extended family. All of our planning had to be forgotten when the weather determined we were to stay in Rochester. I am so thankful to be able to spend Christmas Eve and day with my sister and that A. could enjoy Santa's gifts with her cousins. It is our hope that the weather allows us to venture south to Iowa tomorrow. Our time will be cut with the grandparents- but perhaps that will encourage them to make a trip to WI when the snow disappears. We are all disappointed things didnt work out differently but SO thankful for the safe 6 hour drive He provided for us on Wed.
One of the best parts of my morning was having A. crawl into bed as we waited for others to wake up. We chatted and sang "Happy Birthday to you, Jesus." I hope that is a tradition we will contine for years!
So- my Christmas cards are addressed- and resting on the kitchen counter in Wi. It seems that another year will go by with tardy cards!
On December 22 I turned the big 2-9! My husband was kind enough not to wrap my gifts in Christmas paper! As I opened my gifts, A. so kindly informed me "Movies are for Christmas, Mommy!" (At least I didnt know WHICH movies!) We enjoyed a nice dinner out before Andy had to hurry back for a church consistory meeting. Though I love knowing I came home from the hospital as a baby on Christmas Day, I am glad my children have birthday in April and July! I loved being able to feel my son multiple times on my birthday giving me some loving reminders that he is with me. I LOVE being pregnant and am especially enjoying each kick and movement knowing this is the last time I will experience it!
Have a WONDERFUL Christmas Day- hopefully with family or friends!
